Clark County Seeks
Nominations for Annual
Sammy Awards

It is award season again. Soon, people will be attending the glamorous Oscars, the Emmys, the Grammys and of course - the Sammys! The Sammys recognize individuals, groups, organizations, or projects for their outstanding contributions to salmon recovery in Clark County. If you have a nomination idea, we’d love to hear from you!

 

Potential Sammy Award nominees might involve the following:

 

  • Habitat restoration projects
  • Education and outreach efforts
  • Grassroots or neighborhood association projects
  • A business or organization implementing salmon-friendly or best management practices
  • Special or lifetime achievement for individuals with a strong commitment to salmon recovery
  • Other volunteer activities

Nominations are due by Friday, March 9. They should be sent to Joni McAnally, Clark County ESA, P.O. Box 5000, Vancouver, Washington, 98666-5000. Nominations will be evaluated by a committee comprising of the county’s Endangered Species Act Advisory Committee, other community members, and county staff.

 

Sammy Award winners will receive an original fish sculpture created from recycled stainless steel and mounted on a custom designed wooden base.

 

The recovery of native salmon in the Northwest is the driving goal behind the Clark County ESA vision of a healthy environment supporting healthy communities. Through policy, education, and conservation, Clark County and its citizens can protect and recover threatened and endangered native species.
