Accepting Lottery Applications for
Retail Fireworks Permits

The Fire Marshal’s Office is accepting applications from groups
or individuals interested in selling fireworks in unincorporated Clark
County. There are three permits available this year.
All persons interested in
applying for available permits must file a fireworks lottery application
with the Fire Marshal’s Office by 5 p.m. on January 31, 2007.
Application forms are available on the
Clark County Web site at
www.clark.wa.gov/commdev/documents/firemarshal/lottery.pdf or at the
Fire Marshal’s Office. You can also request that an application be
mailed to you at (360)397-2186 ext. 3396.
Applications must be delivered by the
deadline to the Clark County Fire Marshal’s Office, 505 NW 179th
St., Ridgefield, or faxed to (360)397-2076. Postmarks will not be
accepted.
Groups or individuals that held a permit
in 2006 must also ensure their Intent to Apply form is received by the
Fire Marshal’s Office by 5 p.m. on January 31, 2007. The forms are
online at
www.clark.wa.gov/commdev/documents/firemarshal/notice.pdf. If forms
are not received by the deadline, the opportunity to apply for a permit
will be forfeited and will become available to another applicant through
the lottery system.
Clark County will issue 40 retail
fireworks permits in 2007. The number of permits issued is regulated by
the county’s Fireworks ordinance and is based on the county’s
population. Each year, permitted retailers have the option to renew or
forfeit their permit. Forfeited permits are available through the
lottery system the following year.
