Clark County Residents
Can “Curb,” Not “Trash”
Their Recyclable Materials

A New Year reminder to residents of Clark County and its cities that
curbside recycling is available to all single family residences in Clark
County. Curbside recycling is as easy as 1 (green
bin-containers); 2 (brown bin-newspapers); 3 (tan
bin-mixed paper). In addition corrugated cardboard, motor oil,
anti-freeze and household batteries can be recycled at single family
residences if prepared properly.
For residents who don’t already have recycling bins, the service is just
a phone call away. Contact Waste Connections, Inc. (360)892-5370 for
services in Clark County, except the greater Woodland area, or email
them at
customerhelp@wasteconnections.com. If you do live in the greater
Woodland area, contact Waste Control at (360) 225-7808. In all areas,
recycling is picked up on the same day as garbage (self-haul garbage
customers are given a recycling schedule). Residents are assigned a
pick-up day when they sign up for garbage service. There is a nominal
fee for curbside recycling services; the fee varies depending upon where
you live in Clark County.
In 2005, more than
10 million aluminum cans ended up in a landfill instead of the recycling
bin. Tons of glass, plastic bottles, cardboard, and mixed paper that
could be recycled instead go into the trash each year. Curbside
recycling does cost money, but still costs less than sending waste to a
landfill. Recycling takes material out of the waste stream and puts it
back into the manufacturing stream. Using recyclable materials in
manufacturing can save energy and help conserve our natural resources.
It's all about choices. This year choose the recycling bin, not the
trash can.
