“We are on-call 24 hours a day to deal with hazardous public road conditions,” said Denis Ryan, Public Works operations manager. “We have workers ready to focus on major streets in urban areas and on key roads in rural areas, then move to smaller streets when possible. We can also beef up our crews if the situation turns out to be worse than expected.” To report unsafe road conditions, residents are asked to call the Public Works customer service line at 397-2446. To report downed trees, you may also call that number. However, any life-threatening situation should be reported with a call to 911. If you lose power, it is important to use safe ways to stay warm, to prevent illness that can lead to death. Shelter information is also available by dialing 211. There are many other local resources that can help you prepare for severe weather, emergencies, or hazardous conditions.
