Cherry Neighborhood Park Starts Construction
on February 5
Construction will begin at Cherry Neighborhood Park on Monday,
February 5, 2007. Construction will be completed by Clark
County Public Works. This is the seventh neighborhood park to
be developed as part of the Greater Clark Parks District
approved by voters in 2005.
Cherry Neighborhood Park is located on N.E. 101st
Way between 145th and 146th Avenues, just
north of 99th Street in the Brush Prairie area. Once
construction is complete, this new three-acre neighborhood park
will feature:
Asphalt & concrete trails.
Playground.
Basketball half court.
Picnic table.
Benches.
Irrigated open lawn play area.
Additional trees & other landscaping.
During construction, Clark County crews and
subcontractors will work between 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Mondays
through Fridays. Occasional weekend work may also occur if
necessary. Many work activities are weather dependent, and
construction will not occur during heavy rain or snow. Weather
permitting, this project is scheduled to be complete in July 2007.
Throughout construction, the park will be an active
work site and will be closed to the public to prevent accidents and
injuries. Additional construction impacts include:
Occasional traffic delays & short-term driveway
obstructions on 101st Way near 146th Avenue to allow
construction equipment to enter & exit the work site.
Noise from back-up alarms, heavy equipment &
other activities associated with construction work.
Vibration from asphalt rollers & fresh asphalt
smells during trail paving.
Dirt on roads due to construction traffic.
Design and construction of Cherry Neighborhood Park is being funded
by park impact fees, which are paid whenever a new residential
property is developed, and the real estate excise tax, which is paid
whenever property is sold. Maintenance of the park will be funded by
the Greater Clark Parks District, a special district approved and
funded by voters in the unincorporated urban area of Clark County in
2005. For
