Clark County Chamber Awards Scholarships
to Eleven Students

Eleven high school seniors were honored at a special meeting of Clark County Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday morning, March 13.  These 2007 Clark County Scholars were the recipients of scholarships to be applied toward continuing education at institutions of higher education in Clark County.  Sharing in the celebration at Camas Meadows Golf Club were family, friends, educators, Chamber members, and guests.

The second annual Clark County Chamber Golf Classic tournament, which was held last May, provided funding for these scholarships.  Those receiving scholarships included:

  • Alley Blom, Mountain View High School - Clark College, Associate Degree in Science
  • Ariel Richer, River HomeLink - WSU Vancouver, Pre-Law
  • Catherine Raetz, Vancouver Home Connection - Clark College, Associate Degree
  • Darcy Cahill, Hudson’s Bay High School - WSU Vancouver, Psychology
  • Elaine Taylor, Ridgefield High School - WSU Vancouver, Computer Science
  • Jessica Hagan, Mountain View High School - Clark College, Early Childhood Education
  • Kelly Gustafson, Washougal High School - Clark College, Associate Degree
  • Lauren Castro, Hudon’s Bay High School - Clark College, Education
  • Leah Sarkkinen, Battle Ground High School - Clark College, Business Management
  • Michael Shaw, Battle Ground High School - WSU Vancouver, Finance
  • Nikki Renner, Ridgefield High School - Clark College, Associate Degree

Chamber Scholarship & Golf Committee members who were responsible for organizing this event consisted of Chairman Dan French with Rose Ranch Retirement Inn, Norm Goldman with Goldman and Associates, Tony Ruestig with TwinStar Credit Union, and Robert Ray with Vancouver Farmers Market.

Sponsorships and registrations are currently being accepted for the third annual Clark County Chamber Scholastic Golf Classic, which will be held on May 16, 2007 at the beautiful Camas Meadows Golf Club.  Net proceeds from this tournament will fund scholarships for high school students graduating in 2008.  Anyone interested in helping future Clark County high school students pursue higher education in Clark County are encouraged to contact Clark County Chamber at info@ClarkChamber.com or call (360)258-1181.
