Art On The Boulevard
Welcomes the Public
to First Anniversary Celebration
Vancouver,
Washington-Art on the Boulevard, a fine art gallery in the Vancouver
Marketplace on the corner of Columbia and West Evergreen Boulevard,
will open a new exhibition on April 6, 2007. The title of the show
is Journeys into Photography and is another step in the gallery's
mission to bring a wide variety of art styles to our community. The
First Friday evening event, open to the public at no charge,
includes an opportunity to meet the artists, including
world-renowned photographer Allan Montaine, who will travel from his
home in New York. The artwork will remain on display until April 28,
2007.
The 36" x 48" photograph to the right, Li River-2000 Guilin, is by
Allan Montaine. Allan, who has been a professional photographer for
more than 20 years, has been featured in gallery exhibitions from
New York to California. His work is in corporate and private
collections worldwide. Allan will share the spotlight with three,
very talented, local photographers, Gail Cheshire, Shirley Wilson,
and Patricia Mark. Examples of their work are shown below.
The gallery is a project of the Friends of the Arts, an arts
advocacy non-profit organization whose members have been working
together since the early 1980's. In keeping with the Friends of the
Arts' mission to "establish an environment in which the arts are
pervasive and can flourish", Art on the Boulevard functions as a
public location where FOTA continues to communicate their vision of
Vancouver as an art friendly community.
The gallery is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday from
10:00 am to 5:00 pm, and open 5:00pm to 9:00pm for First Friday Art
openings. The gallery operates with the assistance of community
volunteers.
Additional volunteers are always welcome!
